How to download maps from google maps on android

Set the toggle switch to the on position here, or choose either "Allow all the time" or "Allow only while the app is in use" if you're on Android 10 or higher. If you're using an iPhone, go to the "Privacy" menu in your Settings app, then tap on "Locations Services. To download routes using your cellular data, open Google Maps and open its side menu, then tap on "Offline maps. At this point, you're ready to download offline maps. If you're using an Android device, open Google Maps and either type your target destination into the search bar or put a pin on it by long-pressing the location.

From there, tap on "Directions" in the lower-right corner and decide on a route. With the directions pulled up, tap on the black banner right below the destination entry to download an offline copy of the entire map and all the businesses along your route. After that, you can proceed to the next step. This will allow you to select an area on the map, and download it for offline use. Location details and your options will slide in from the bottom of your screen.

This button is in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will open a drop-down menu. Tap Download offline map on the menu. This will prompt you to select the area you want to download on the map. Use two fingers to adjust the area in the box. Make sure the entire area you want to download is included in the blue box on the map. Spread with two fingers on your screen to zoom in, or pinch in to zoom out.

It's in the lower-right corner of your screen. This will download and save the selected area for offline use. You can view a list of all your downloaded maps, and access them anywhere. Include your email address to get a message when this question is answered. It's near the top-right corner. Tap Download offline map. You'll see a box surrounding a suggested download area. The selected map area will now download to your iPhone or iPad.

If you want to force Google Maps to use your downloaded map instead, you must disconnect from your mobile data plan. You can toggle mobile data on and off by swiping up from the bottom of the home screen and tapping the antennae icon to the right of the airplane.

Method 3. Though there's no way to download a map area when you're using a computer, you can download directions in advance and save them to a PDF file. Type your destination into the Search bar. If you want to save directions to a location, type the address or name of that location into this box. As you type, a list of matching results will appear. Click the location in the search results. The map will zoom in to the location. Click Directions. It's in the left panel. Look for the blue icon with a road sign containing an arrow.

Enter a starting point. Just as you searched your destination, enter the name or address of the location you're traveling from into the box at the top-left corner of the page. Click the starting point in the search results. This will display a map that shows the route from the starting point to the destination.

This displays step-by-step directions for the trip. Depending on the location and destination, you may see multiple routes in the left panel. Click the printer icon. Cookies are currently disabled in your browser. As a result, some elements of our site won't work as designed.

The app will tell you much more storage space is required. The last step is pressing the download button. Your download will begin now, with a progress bar appearing on screen.
